Suzanne T. Witterholt, M.D.
Dr. Witterholt has worked as a psychiatrist at the Minnesota Department of Human Services since 1994. She directed a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (“DBT”) inpatient unit at the Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center, since which she has focused on the development of the community’s capacity to effectively treat individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder and related conditions. Since 2006, she has been working with Marsha Linehan, PhD, developer of DBT, to implement certification of clinicians and programs to promote fidelity to the evidence-based model. Currently, she is the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification.
Having consulted extensively in Minnesota and throughout the United States, she is actively involved in efforts to increase access to DBT as well as to educate and implement this and other evidence-based practices in the public mental health sector. In recognition of her work, she has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
