Vincent Diorio, a Clinical Coordinator for New Jersey MENTOR’s Brain Injury program in Somerset, received the Ripple of Hope award in part because he founded the successful Creativity Expo, which gives people with acquired or traumatic brain injury the opportunity to showcase their creative talents. Eastern Division President Bruce Nardella told the story of a talented 19 year-old videographer who sustained a brain injury at school. “The trauma threatened to extinguish the motivation behind this budding talent,” Bruce said. “But Vincent stepped in with knowledge and encouragement for the young man. He went on to become the show’s youngest artist, creating an impressive audio-visual production with original music. This fall, he enrolled in art school.”
The 2005 Ripple of Hope Award winners were honored on November 15th, 2005 at the John F. Kennedy Library Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.
