Highlighting its Therapeutic Foster Care program and associated training for Mentor foster parents, Illinois MENTOR was recently featured in the Southern Illinoisan, a local publication in Carbondale, Illinois.
The story focused on the Lairds, a married couple that completed PRIDE training to become foster parents after many unsuccessful attempts at starting a family of their own. PRIDE is a 9-week, 27-hour course of foster care training that is provided by the Department of Children and Family Services.
The Lairds learned about Illinois MENTOR and its Therapeutic Foster Care program through friends, and the organization quickly became a source for them to realize their dreams of having a family. They are now certified foster parents and eager to welcome a child into their home with the support of Illinois MENTOR.
