The MENTOR Network

DSP of the Week

At The MENTOR Network, we believe that our Direct Support Professionals—who help carry out The Network’s mission every day—should be valued, supported and recognized for a job well done. That’s why we’re honoring our direct support workforce and the tremendous difference they make each day in the lives of thousands of individuals we serve.

Each week, we’re recognizing one of our remarkable DSPs. Please take a moment to meet these talented individuals and remember to thank them for their commitment to the individuals we serve.

If you would like to nominate someone for DSP of the Week, please visit our nomination page.

“I choose to work in the direct support role as it is the most rewarding job in the world. Every day I come to work I feel so happy because the individuals I serve are the most loving people. As soon as you come into their home, they greet you with huge smiles and open arms.”

“There is no better feeling than putting a smile on somebody’s face. I would not trade being a DSP for anything! Being able to help the people we serve do everyday tasks may seem trivial to some, but it means the world to me.”

Direct Support Professional
Missouri MENTOR

“Being a direct support professional is much more than just supporting an individual. As a DSP, every day we watch and help the individuals we serve attempt new tasks and activities, grow and prosper, overcome challenging goals, and become more independent in their respective lives. One of my favorite outings was a trip to the park with one of the individuals I serve. The individual hadn’t shown any interest in engaging in activities in our local parks or playgrounds in the past, but this day she was thrilled with the adventure we had.  She went on the swings, played basketball, used the exercise equipment, and even went down the slide. It was a fantastic day and one I will never forget!”
