William Painter, Senior Director of Clinical Practice within The MENTOR Network’s Children and Family Services Center of Excellence, will lead a webinar entitled “Successful Reunification with Treatment Foster Care: Family Vistas® and Home-based Treatment using Family Centered Treatment®” for the Family Focused Treatment Association on May 19, 2019.
The webinar will address the Network’s two clinical models for youth at risk, Family Vistas and Family Centered Treatment. Painter will discuss parenting and treatment components needed for a family to successfully reunify after a child is placed in foster care. He will share tools for helping the family overcome common barriers to reunification and for engaging the family of origin and foster parents in the reunification process.
Family Vistas is a trauma-informed model of Therapeutic Foster Care developed by The MENTOR Network’s clinicians. Under the model, foster parents help children set positive goals and overcome challenges, such as trauma, anxiety, depression and problems in school to help them reach the destination of their choosing, including reunification when in the best interest of the child.
Family Centered Treatment (FCT©) is an evidence-based model of family preservation designed to help families who are at risk learn, grow and interact in a positive way. FCT treats the entire family, including parents, siblings and members of the child’s extended family, empowering them to make lasting positive changes. For youth being served in The Network’s Therapeutic Foster Care programs, FCT is used to help reunite families when it is in the best interest of the child. The MENTOR Network is a flagship provider of FCT, which was developed by Network clinicians.
