California MENTOR Host Home Provider Recognized as “Remarkable Woman”

Robin Hartney, a host home provider with California MENTOR, was recently recognized as a Remarkable Woman by KGET News and its parent company Nextstar. The Remarkable Women program celebrates women in Kern County, California who are changing lives and giving back to the community.

Robin has been a host home provider, also known as a Mentor, with California MENTOR’s Family Home Agency program for seven years, providing a caring home and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Robin is known for being a passionate person who serves her community in any way possible. She is an example of a caregiver who has committed her life to helping others achieve their greatest potential and live life to the fullest.

California MENTOR’s Family Home Agency (FHA) programs match individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with nurturing Mentors. The individuals live in their Mentors’ homes and become part of the family, developing relationships that help them grow and be an active part of community life.  With the support of Mentors like Robin, individuals find new opportunities each day to learn, grow and achieve their goals in the communities they call home.
