Marty has been with REM North Dakota for 16 years. He works diligently to support the individuals he serves to forge and maintain relationships with friends, family, and staff members. For the past twelve years Marty has accompanied an individual across the state twice a year so he can visit with a former employee who he has a strong connection with. Marty works with the individual to make sure that he can visit her for his birthday and during the holidays.
“Marty is always looking to connect the individuals he serves with the community through his meticulous planning and innovative ideas. He is able to look at one activity that may appear isolated and envision how to branch that activity out to numerous skill areas.” – Rebekka Freije, Area Director, REM North Dakota
Marty also ensures that the individuals he serves have access to a garden each spring. Marty supports several individuals to come out to the garden and pick vegetables. The individuals then donate the vegetables to 2nd Story, a social club in Minot, North Dakota for adults with developmental disabilities.
