Each year the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR), the national association representing providers of community-based services to people with disabilities, chooses a Direct Support Professional from each state to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the people they serve.
Nominees are judged on their success in helping people with disabilities build social networks and engage in substantive community participation and for advocating for the people they serve.
The MENTOR Network is proud to announce that four of our DSPs were chosen as ANCOR’s 2018 Direct Support Professional of the Year for their respective states:
- Lucy Garadwey, MENTOR Oregon
- Lou Perkins, REM West Virginia
- Robert Ruskowski, Arizona MENTOR
- Marty Shaw, REM North Dakota
In addition, Janet Johnson, a Direct Support Professional from Illinois MENTOR, received ANCOR’s inaugural Relationships Award.
We invite you to meet all of our outstanding winners and see how they’re making a difference each day for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
